On the 6th of November, the SUBMARINER Mussels and Algae Working Groups (WGs) joined together to organise a WG meeting on Data Availability and Uses. With 67 participants, it is one of the biggest WG meetings we have organised!
We got four very interesting presentations looking at different aspects of data;
- The Alga, Shellfish and Nutrients study by ACRI-S, BMRS and Cofrepeche, creating tools for estimating cultivation potential of algae and shellfish, aiming to upscale low-trophic aquaculture in the EU;
- An overview of the biodiversity and carbon data collected by Sjokovin within SeaMark to evaluate impacts of seaweed farms on ecosystems;
- A pitch of two tools developed in AlgaeProBANOS, the AlgaeBrain and the AlgaeEconomist tool,
- and an introduction to EMO BON, a multi-national biodiversity observation programme by EMBRC.
Almost before the end of the meeting we had questions and networking requests from participants, which is out goal with organising the meetings; to facilitate discussion and spark ideas from out community. You can also keep the discussions going in our meeting forum in BlueBioMatch.
Register now for the next meeting 30th of January focusing on monitoring, we hope to see you there!
You find all the presentations here.
